Summary edit
DescriptionMynwent - Churchyard - geograph.org.uk - 575292.jpg |
English: Mynwent - Churchyard. In the churchyard of 575270. The gravestone records the deaths of the children of Thomas and Ellen Williams of High Street Penrhyndeudraeth. Their children, Jane Ellen, Thomas, Evan and Morris died between 1865 and 1874 at the ages, respectively, of one and a half years, five years, nine months and nineteen and a half months. The parents are also buried here. The verse reads:
Cofia ddyn wrth fyned heibio, Fel r'wyt ti, myfi fu'n teithio: Fel r'wyf fi, tydi a ddeui. Cofia ddyn mai marw fyddi. This is a Welsh equivalent of: Remember man as you pass by, As you are now, so once was I, As I am now so will you be, Remember man, you have to die. |
