Summary

DescriptionMyriameterstein Nummer 42.jpg	Deutsch: Der aus Sandstein gefertigte Myriameter-Stein ist bei Rheinkilometer 587,48 aufgestellt. Er ist einer der rund sechzig noch erhaltenen von den ursprünglich über 160 Steinen, die von Basel bis Rotterdam alle zehntausend Meter an jeweils beiden Rheinufern aufgestellt worden waren. Nach der Vermessung des Rheinstroms 1864 gibt er Auskunft über die Vermessungsergebnisse. Die Steine sind ungefähr 50 x 50 Zentimeter groß. In alle vier Seitenflächen sind Zahlenangaben eingemeißelt. Sie weisen die laufende Nummer und die Entfernungen von dem Standort bis zur Quelle und zur Mündung und den ehemaligen Landesgrenzen aus.
