Summary edit
DescriptionN.E.A.A. sign, Beamish Museum, 3 August 2011.jpg |
English: Beamish Museum, County Durham, England. This N.E.A.A. sign warns "Dangerous Hill Ahead". It's sited on southern section of the tramway, about 150m west of the Entrance area stop. Rather than the tramway road however, which runs E-W at this point, the sign faces south, and so presumably refers to the road that heads north off the tramway, down to the Pit Village. Although the warning is perhaps superfluous as the section of the road nearest the sign now seems to be overgrown - with an alternate section of wheelchair west-east accessible turn-back pathway laid instead. Further north, the alignment of the road still exists, joining Pitfield Street on the east side of the Chapel. There's another of these signs on the western side of the tramway, at the west end of Pitfield Road near Home Farm tram stop, which does indeed have a steep slope as it heads down to the village. |
