c 1870 This deer antler bonnet or ‘stalking cap’ is made of bison hide. The skull cap has antlers of a two year old white tail deer attached by means of smoked hide. The cap was worn when stalking game but would also have been worn during winter medicine dances. Bison hide (Bos bison), deer (Odocoileus virginianus) . H 34.0, W 26.5 cm
