Summary edit

Description This microform is printed on paper, probably an early example before the introduction of collodion film. The paper is secured to a rigid cardstock. It contains dispatches conveyed through “pigeon post” connecting the French communication lines during the Siege of Paris in the Franco-Prussian War, 1870-1871. The paper numbered 53 (left) and 54 (right) is titled: “Service des dépêches par pigeons voyageurs organisé par M. Stéenackers, directeur général des Télégraphes et des Postes, A. M. Mercadier, rue de Grenelle--Saint-Germain, No. 103, Paris. Dépêche privees a distribuer aux destinataires. – N. 53 [and] N. 54.”
