Well I now know what a "Rock Garden" looks like, LOL

Glaciers shaped the land thousands of years ago, ancient boulders, some weighing many tons, are scattered along the coast.

The land was cleared of soil in the last ice age down to the bare granite rock. Large boulders, called glacial erratics were left at random on the landscape by the retreating glaciers. The area is covered with low plants, blueberry, cranberry etc. Any trees that are here (mostly conifers and alders) are small and stunted.

A glacial erratic is a piece of rock that differs from the size and type of rock native to the area in which it rests. "Erratics" take are carried by glacial ice, often over distances of hundreds of kilometres. Erratics can range in size from pebbles to large boulders.
