Deutsch: Schiefersee im Naturschutzgebiet „Staatsbruch Lehesten“ (NSG 285) in Lehesten, Landkreis Saalfeld-Rudolstadt (Thüringen) – Der Bereich „Schieferbergbau bei Lehesten“ wurde als Nationaler Geotop ausgezeichnet. Im 13. Jahrhundert begannen in diesem Gebiet bergmännische Tätigkeiten. Die stillgelegten Steinbrüche, Stollen und Schächte sowie die Halden sind Lebensraum für zahlreiche seltene Tier- und Pflanzenarten. In diesem zum Teil schlecht zugänglichen (und nur auf den Wegen begehbaren) Areal haben sich mittlerweile 170 Arten der „Roten Liste“, also vom Aussterben bedrohter Pflanzen und Tiere, angesiedelt.
English: "Schiefersee" in nature reserve "Staatsbruch Lehesten" (NSG 285) in Lehesten, Landkreis Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, Thüringen, Germany. The region "Schieferbergbau bei Lehesten" was classified as Nationaler Geotop. In the 13th century mining began in the region. The decommissioned quarries, adits and shaft minings as well as the spoil tips are habitat for a lot of rare animal and plant species.
