Description
English: Nabaneeta Deb Sen is one of the most versatile female Bengali writers in India today. She has published more than 80 books in Bengali, which include novels, short stories, plays, literary criticism, personal essays, travelogues, humour writing, translations and children’s literature. Her first collection of poems, Pratham Pratyay, was published in 1959. Ami Anupam, her first novel, was published in 1976. Some of her other well-known works are Bama-bodhini, Nati Nabanita, Srestha Kabita and Sita Theke Suru. She is widely respected in the academia as well, and has a Masters degree from Harvard University and a PhD from Indiana University. She has received many awards including the Celli Award from the Rockefeller Foundation and the Sahitya Akademi Award. Deb Sen lives in Kolkata and has three daughters, two with former husband Amartya Sen. This shot was taken during the annual 'Kolkata Literary Meet 2013' was a part of the 'International Kolkata Book Fair 2013' held at the Milan Mela ground. It is a five day talk and interaction with general public of renowned persons from India and abroad.
