Una nadala o cançó de Nadal és una cançó, la lletra de la qual fa referència al Nadal o, per extensió, a l'hivern en general. Es canten tradicionalment en el període previ i durant les festes de Nadal. D'entre els diferents tipus de nadales que existeixen, "Un noi hermós" pot apropar-se a aquelles que en un origen eren cançons de bressol com "El noi de la mare", tot i que la seva estructura discursiva recorda una recitació teatral. Tot i que l'origen de la nadala és incert, sembla que va venir de fora i almenys una de les versions possiblement vingui de Solsona. A Tuixent, la notícia més antiga és la partitura dels anys 1920 d'"Un noi hermós" que Josep Badia va recuperar de Can Joan Peret, quan allà ja no hi vivia ningú. En aquesta casa hi havia viscut en Francisco Viliella (Cisco de la Bassa), que era ferrer i tocava el violí, a principis de segle XX. Té una funció religiosa donat que es refereix al naixement de Jesucrist, fundador del cristianisme. Com que està demostrat que Jesucrist és una persona que va existir realment, podem considerar que també té, en certa manera, una funció històrica. Al mateix temps té una funció social en la mesura que sol cantar-se en grup i en la mesura que uneix una comunitat, en aquest cas la comunitat cristiana.

Un villancico o canción de Navidad es una canción, cuya letra hace referencia a la Navidad o, por extensión, en invierno en general. Se cantan tradicionalmente en el período previo y durante las fiestas de Navidad. De entre los diferentes tipos de villancicos que existen, "Un chico hermoso" puede acercarse a aquellos que en un origen eran canciones de cuna como "El chico de la madre", aunque su estructura discursiva recuerda una recitación teatral . Aunque el origen del villancico es incierto, parece que vino de fuera y al menos una de las versiones posiblemente venga de Solsona. En Tuixent, la noticia más antigua es la partitura de los años 1920 de "Un chico hermoso" que Josep Badia recuperó de Can Joan Peret, cuando allí ya nadie vivía. En esta casa había vivido Francisco Viliella (Cisco de la Balsa), que era herrero y tocaba el violín, a principios de siglo XX. Tiene una función religiosa dado que se refiere al nacimiento de Jesucristo, fundador del cristianismo. Puesto que está demostrado que Jesucristo es una persona que existió realmente, podemos considerar que también tiene, en cierto modo, una función histórica.
