Description
English: Françoise Marie de Bourbon (1677-1749), Duchess of Orleans. Whole length in an allegorical painting as Galatea, pictured with allegorical figures bathing. With French inscription below. India laid. Plate from Charles Gavard's 'Galeries historiques de Versailles' published in the 1830s and 1840s. The plate is signed 'Diagraphe et Pantographe Gavard', indicating that the plate was created using an invention devised by Gavard which allowed him to create accurate copies of images in various scaled-down sizes.
