Descripción:

   La Natividad, con san José de pie a la derecha detrás de un grupo de pastores adoradores, mirando hacia el espectador, señalando al Niño Jesús, que yace en un lecho, rodeado de ángeles, mientras la Virgen María se arrodilla a la izquierda, sus manos tendidas, mirando a su Hijo, el buey y el asno detrás de ella y un estallido de luz en una nube saliendo por la puerta de madera, sobre la cabeza de Cristo; según el cuadro de Joshua Reynolds para la vidriera de una ventana del New College, Oxford (Mannings 2106); estado republicado, línea de publicación borrada.

The original painting was destroyed in a fire at Belvoir Castle in 1816 and was made as a design for a stained glass window in the New College Chapel (Oxford). The print is the work of Samuel William Reynolds I and is kept in the British Museum.

   The Nativity, with Joseph standing on the right behind a group of adoring shepherds, looking towards the viewer, pointing at the infant Jesus, who lies on a bed of stray, surrounded by angels, while the Virgin Mary kneels on the left, her hands outstretched, gazing at her Son, the ox and ass behind her and a burst of light in a cloud issuing through the wooden door, above Christ's head; after Reynolds from the New College Window, Oxford (Mannings 2106); republished state, publication line erased.

   The New College Window was designed by Reynolds and executed by Jervais. It has since been destroyed. For more information, see Mannings 2106.
