Description The U.S. Navy Naval Operating Base, Adak, Alaska (USA): View of an administration building, with the harbor beyond, circa summer 1944. The camouflaged ship in the center of the harbor, beyond the flagpole, is the destroyer tender USS Black Hawk (AD-9). USS Charleston (PG-51) is between the pier and the escort ship (DE), directly behind the flagpole. A "Liberty" ship and other auxiliary ships are also present.
