English: The Neapolitan Mastiff or Mastino (Italian: Mastino Napoletano) is a large, ancient dog breed. This massive breed is often used as a guard and defender of family and property due to their protective instincts and their fearsome appearance.
Italiano: Il mastino napoletano è una razza canina che deriva dai molossoidi rustici, diffusi nelle campagne delle regioni meridionali italiane.
La razza è discendente diretta dei grossi molossi assiro-babilonesi, diffuso poi dai Romani in tutta Europa. Data la sua forte storicità, il mastino napoletano rappresenta un vero e proprio "monumento vivente" della moderna cinofilia. |
