Description

c/n 507 Built 1947 The Dragonfly was a two-seat motor glider designed by Hawley Bowlus and based on his BA-100 Baby Albatross glider. Bowlus joined with the Nelson Engine Company to form the Nelson Aviation Company for the types construction. Unfortunately the 25hp engine meant the aircraft was underpowered and only seven were built, of which at least four still survive. This example was donated to the Smithsonian Institute in 1973 and is seen on display at the Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center as part of the National Air and Space Museum.
