Description
Deutsch: Nossa Senhora das Vitóras ist eine Kapelle im neugotischen Stil, fertiggestellt 1886, am Ufer des Sees von Furnas auf der Azoreninsel São Miguel. Sie geht auf den azoreanischen Forscher und Lehrer José do Canto zurück, der wenige Meter davon entfernt eine Villa bewohnte, solange er nicht in Paris war. Wie die Villa wurden große Teile der Kapelle in Frankreich hergestellt und mit dem Schiff nach São Miguel transportiert. José do Canto ist in der Kirche begraben.
English: Nossa Senhora das Vitóras is a chapel at the lake of Furnas on the Azorean island of São Miguel. It was built under the instruction of José do Canto in Paris and shipped to the Azores in 1885/86. José do Canto, an Azorean researcher and mastermind, lived close by (when not teaching in Paris) and is buried in the chapel.
