The Dutch postal authorities introduced the postman's hand stamp in December 1867. The office in The Hague used the letters A-G for up to 7 mail deliveries per day. G signifies the 7th, last post delivery. 35 was the postman's number, which was also attached to his uniform collar. Four types of shapes of postman hand stamps are known: octagonal, oval, rectangle and rectangle with curved lines.
