English: Netherlands 1874-08-24 letter Arnhem-'s Gravenhage. Franked 5c William III. Dotted cancel '8' (Arnhem), 'ARNHEM 28 AUG 74' . Delivery same day: postman octagonal boxed 'G. 35' marking and receiver ' 's GRAVENHAGE 8A-12M / 28 AUG 74'. The Dutch postal authorities introduced the postman's hand stamp in December 1867. The office in The Hague used the letters A-G for up to 7 mail deliveries per day. G signifies the 7th, last post delivery. 35 was the postman's number, which was also attached to his uniform collar. Four types of shapes of postman hand stamps are known: octagonal, oval, rectangle and rectangle with curved lines.
