DescriptionNew Army in Training, Aldershot.jpg |
English: Picture of soldiers. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Kitchener understood that the war would last for years. He formed the New Army in 1914 ,an all-volunteer force, but although almost 2.5 million men joined up the government later had to introduce conscription in order to obtain sufficient numbers of fighting men. |
