These trams had just been acquired from Mannheim and were working for a short time alongside ancient ET55 Gotha made trams. They look exactly the same today, apart from black on white route and destination blinds. Built in 1962, acquired in 1991, still in service. www.tram-info.de/wagenp/gotha.htm 396 is climbing up Bahnhofstrasse in Gotha towards the Hauptbahnhof, showing Gotha Waltershausen destination blind, rather than Hauptbahnhof or Tabarz. Overall advertising on the side for Gothaplast plasters - Wenn Du eine Wunde hast....schützte sie mit Gothaplast Gothaplast Verbandpflasterfabrik GmbH still exists in the town. It was founded, unusually, in May 1944 by the Swiss pharmacist Hans C Wirz, who was the son in law of the owner of the main branch of the firm of Carl Blank Kommanditsgesellschaft of Bonn. The scene at Gotha Hauptbahnhof has changed considerably in the last few years, as shown in this photo of 396 by @Paul Turner |
