Description
English: Newbury Park tube station looking westbound (actually south here), towards the tunnel portals either side of the track-bed of the old route to Ilford which closed in 1947 (the year the Central line reached the Hainault loop) and was lifted in 1956. The Central line burrows underground to head westwards to Gants Hill. The A12 Eastern Avenue road bridge is in the foreground. When the road was widened in 1956, the original station building (very similar to Chigwell) had to be demolished.
