| Description |
English: Part of a large traffic queue in Staplers Road, Staplers, Newport, Isle of Wight. Being the summer holidays, lots of tourists were holidaying on the island. Whenever the weather is a bit nasty, everyone decides to go to Newport for the day, which results in the whole place becoming extremely congested, sometimes nearly gridlocked. This day was one such occasion (it poured down soon afterwards). On this occasion, traffic had queued back past the last houses on Staplers Road. When I hit the congestion, the end of the queue was about half way between the junctions with Mews Lane and Blacklands Road. I had been on the number 9 bus (as seen in File:Southern Vectis 194 HW52 EPP and Newport Staplers Road traffic queue.JPG), but from past experience decided to get off and walk, as did the two people walking down the pavement in the photo, and walk the rest of the mile and a quarter journey into Newport. I walked past the traffic queue and easily beat the bus. |
