Description

This is the Nicholas Chamberlaine's Almshouses at All Saints Square in Bedworth.

Bedworth’s most beautiful buildings are the breathtaking 1840 Nicholas Chamberlaine Almshouses on All Saint’s Square in the town centre. The almshouses were built in 1840, replacing a set of almshouses founded in Chamberlaine's will, which were originally located opposite the Civic hall. The almshouse provision was established in response to the decline of the ribbon-weaving industry in the 17th century. Remarkably, the almshouses are still run as a charitable service today, though the premises are now used by the elderly.
