Summary

edit
Description At last it was refreshing to see a bird species I'd seen before, the Nicobar Pigeon. I'd first spotted and photographed this bird in the Jurong Bird Park, way back in 2009. The Nicobar Pigeon is a species of pigeon found on small islands and in coastal regions from the Nicobar Islands, east through the Malay Archipelago, to the Solomons and Palau. It is the only living member of the genus Caloenas. This chap was browsing on the ground and seemed to be on t something, hence his head down position. It is a large pigeon, measuring 40 cm in length. The cere of the dark bill forms a small blackish knob. The tail of the Nicobar Pigeon is pure white. (partially visible here).(Butterworth, Penang, Nov. 2013)
