Summary
editDescriptionNikon F-401s (controls).png |
English: The F-401s (N4004s in North America) is an electronic 35mm film SLR from 1989 and was released as a minor update over the original model, which hit the market two years earlier. The primary difference is slightly improved AF accuracy and speed. Being Nikon's entry-level SLR of the day, features are limited and the camera is intended to be used in the fully automatic mode dubbed Image Master Control for the most part. While both aperture and shutter dials are included, the viewfinder is severely limited in terms of information it can display, relying on a basic under-/overexposure warning and flash advisory in addition to a "Focus OK" indicator. Also missing is some quick-access method for exposure compensation. Lens compatibility is best with screw-drive AF lenses. The camera can't meter with Nikon AI glass, and AF functionality is not available with later AF-S models. Film transport is automatic resp. motorized. |
