Traces of earthware Weight - 2.65 Kg Dimensions - H15,2cm x W8,5cm x D8,5cm Find spot/Acquired - Near Lumley Beach- Freetown - Sierra Leone - Africa - 8º29’00.68’’N-13º17’05.66’’O - Elev.- 3m Acquisition date - 2012 Acquisition name/Collected by - Bought in person by Nuno Carvalho de Sousa from a local male farmer near Lumley Beach in Freetown (Sierra Leone). - (Ashu Elias Nsoh – intermediate/translation – with writing notes regarding the finding aggregated to the item). The farmer that sold the Nomoli stated that the same was found by him, in his terrains, near a stream in Duabu Village, after Kenema and Talia, on the Eastern part of the Republic of Sierra Leone. Also stated that on that village they were being used as a symbol during initiation ceremonies of women into society. No references were given regarding the use of this particular Nomoli as a protector of rice crops or others by this farmer.
