Description

Abdalian, Photographer; Norfolk House, Roxbury, Mass. In 1825, where now stands the Norfolk House, was a double wooden house, one occupied by Robert Farley and the other by a military officer by the name of Fuller. This wooden building was soon utilized for a hotel by that name; a large brick addition was built in its rear, and that was the form of this popular building for many years. At this time there were no stages running to the city, if one wanted a ride to town he had to take a Providence or Dedham stage as they passed daily through the village, or get a ride in a milk cart of a butcher's cart. Eliot Square.
