Description
English: 53d Fighter-Day Squadron, 36th Fighter-Day Wing - North American F-86F-25-NH Sabre - s/n 51-13467, Bitburg (Germany) ca. 1954. Squadron Colors: Three wide Yellow angled bands on fin and rudder.

Information:

  1. A Republic F-84E-30-RE Thunderjet (s/n 51-628) of 22nd FBS, 36th FBG collided in midair May 15, 1953 with two C-119s (51-8235, 51-8241) in formation 10 mi NE of Mannheim, Germany. All three aircraft crashed. F-84 pilot parachuted to safety.
  2. Fairchild C-119C Flying Boxcar s/n 51-8241 (MSN 10789) lost in collision during May 15, 1953 fly-by 10 mi NE of Mannheim, Germany. A flight of F-84s flew through the formation of C-119s. One F-84 (51-628) collided with one C-119 and it caroomed off that one and hit another. F-84 pilot ejected. 3 C-119 crew were killed, 3 injured - http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_serials/1951.html
