| Description |
English: Looking northeast across L'Enfant Plaza at the North Building at L'Enfant Plaza in Washington, D.C., in the United States. L'Enfant Plaza and L'Enfant Promenade were designed by I. M. Pei for developer William Zeckendorf in the early 1960s. Pei's partner, Araldo Cossutta, designed the North Building and South Building, two office buildings which border the plaza. These were constructed in the late 1960s.
The railings denote where the pedestrian entrances to the "La Promenade" underground shopping mall and food court are. The James V. Forrestal Federal Building can be seen in the bottom left of the image, down L'Enfant Promenade to the north. |
