| Description |
English: North End House The name given to what is three separate properties, from left to right, Prospect House, Aubrey Cottage and Gothic House. The first two were purchased in 1880 by painter Sir Edward Burne Jones who combined them into one house, renaming them North End House. Later in 1923 the joined buildings were purchased by Sir Roderick Jones owner of Reuters along with neightbouring Gothic House which was then joined to the other two properties. Jones' wife was Enid Bagnold who wrote the novel, National Velvet. The house has since been returned to three separate properties. Viewed from the village green. |
