Ready to precede the Parade. The City of Inverness held its Armed Forces Day Parade in conjunction with Inverness Highland Games on Saturday 24th July 2010. The Parade - from Eastgate in Inverness City Centre, through the city and past the Town House, over the Ness Bridge and along Ness Walk (where salute taken by the Lord Lieutenant and the Provost of Inverness) to the Games venue at the Northern Meeting Park - comprised 7 pipe bands, and past, present and cadet representatives of HM Armed Forces together with standards. The Pipe Bands comprised: - IRBLS (Inverness Royal British Legion Scotland) - Northern Constabulary - Queens Own Highlanders Regimental Association - Nairn & District - Forres - RAF Kinloss - Sutherland Caledonian The Massed Pipes and Drums were led by Drum Major Neil Jamieson of Aberdeen. Universities OTC Although overcast, it was thankfully dry throughout the Parade, which was greatly enjoyed by the thousands who lined the route. |
