After finding a spring running down a remote mountainside, several dusky salamanders and this spring salamander were flipped in quick succession on a mild, cloudy morning preceding a system of thunderstorms. This salamander was under a small, chunky rock, and it quickly crawled away and took refuge under a different rock.
