Description
English: St Martin's Church of Marthon was built in the 12th century. Typical of Romanesque architecture, it is a "Monument Historique" (Regional Heritage in France) since 1925. In Marthon, all the lights are turned off before midnight. This is a nice example of what the management of city lights should : From Marthon, the Milky Way Galaxy, many stars and deep sky objects are visible with the naked eye.
Français : L'Eglise Saint-Martin de Marthon date du XIIème siècle et est d'architecture romane. Elle est inscrite en tant que monument historique depuis 1925. La politique de gestion de l'éclairage de Marthon est admirable : avant minuit, toutes les lumières s’éteignent. C'est un exemple à suivre pour préserver la biodiversité, et pour que tout le monde puisse observer la galaxie, la Voie Lactée, ainsi que des objets du ciel profond qui ne sont, le plus souvent, pas visibles depuis les agglomerations.
