Northrop NF-5A Freedom Fighter light jet fighter at the Museum of Aviation in Košice

Summary edit

Description
English: Northrop NF-5A Freedom Fighter light jet fighter displayed at the Museum of Aviation in Košice, Slovakia. Manufactured by the American aviation company Northrop Corporation 1959 and 1987, it had been part of the inventory of the United States military for a number of decades, and had been exported to many countries around the world and served in their air forces. Many are still in active service, especially in smaller air forces. The NF-5A variant was a single-seat fighter (based on the Canadair CF-5A variant), originally license-built for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (Koninklijke Luchtmacht), numbering 75 specimens. Ten NF-5A fighters from the Netherlands were sold to the Greek Air Force in 1991. The preserved specimen shown here is one of the ex-Dutch and ex-Greek NF-5A fighter planes. It carries the roundel of the Greek Air Force. The Museum of Aviation in Košice also displays a Northrop T-38 Talon, which served as the development basis for the F-5 light jet fighter.
