| Description | The northwest corner of Main and Genesee Streets in downtown Buffalo, New York. The date photograph is narrowed to some time between 1872 and '75 by the sign for John I. Pryor's grocery store, in business in that location during those dates. Seen in the photograph is the original Genesee House hotel, built in 1842 and demolished in 1881 to make way for a larger building for the same business. In the background at left rises the spire of the original Central Presbyterian Church. Currently the site of the Genesee Building aka the former Hyatt Regency Hotel. |
