Description

c/n SH.1710 Built in 1955 as a Canberra B.6 with the British Military serial WT205. Served with 9 Squadron at RAF Conningsby and was flown to Cyprus in 1956 as part of ‘Operation Muskateer’ (the Suez Crisis). She was converted to Canberra B.15 standard during 1961 and flew as a trials aircraft for both English Electric and the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment (A&AEE) until retired at Boscombe Down in September 1972. When she was broken up the nose section was saved and passed to 2341 Squadron of the Air Training Corps at Eastwood, finally joining the museum here in October 2000. She carries the markings of 9 Squadron, her original service unit. RAF Manston History Museum Manston, Kent, UK
