English: c/n 176.
Built in 1964 as G-AVPN but immediately sold to Bavaria and registered as D-BIBI. Returned to the UK as G-AVPN in 1967 and flew for British Island Airways (BIA) but leased to Aerolinee Itavia. In 1970 she was bought by Aerolinee Itavia and Italian registered as I-TIVB, but was then sold back to BIA as G-AVPN in 1973. BIA became part of Air UK in 1980 and G-AVPN continued to fly with them until February 1985 when she was bought by Nordic Oil Services. By August 1987 she was stored at Norwich and remained there until leased to British Air Ferries in November 1989. Her last owner was Channel Express, whose colours she still wears, and she flew with them from November 1991 to July 1997, when she was retired and stored at Bournemouth. She flew in to Elvington for the museum during October 1997, but has sadly now been reduced to just a nose section. Yorkshire Air Museum Elvington, North Yorkshire, UK. 1st September 2020 |
