Front entrance to the Wile Carding Mill Museum (Bridgewater)

Wile Carding Mill was established by Dean Wile in 1860 and remained in use until the 1960s.

By the 1880s it was a thriving business, employing three women, because the valuable service it provided to local wool producers.

The mill is one of few surviving carding mills in Nova Scotia and the only remnant of Bridgewater’s nineteenth-century industrial area that included seven water-powered industries.

Wile Carding Mill was officially designed a municipal heritage property by the Town of Bridgewater in 2013, so that its integrity and historic character will be protected under the Heritage Property Act of Nova Scotia.
