Description View of an abandon ship drill on the after deck of the U.S. Navy battleship USS Missouri (BB-63), during her shakedown period in the summer of 1944. Note the Vought OS2U Kingfisher floatplane (actually a Naval Aircraft Factory OS2N-1) on the port side catapult; the variety of lifebelt types; the baseball caps and the red "white" hats worn by some sailors; the Marine walking by with an M-1 rifle; and the open hatch cover.
