| Description |
Located at "131 Speers Road Oakville Ontario L6K 3C5" The Plaza opened with one screen in 1969 and was twinned in 1975. The theater closed in 1989 and was reopened briefly in 1999 as the Oakville Plaza Cinemas. It closed again in 2001. It was not originaly constructed as a Cinema but started off life as a bowling alley. When it was converted to cinematic use they had to install a floor that sloped above the original floor however the gradient was never sufficient to be suitable for viewing. Regular patrons such as myself knew to leave every second row vacant so that no one would be sitting in front of you. This served as an “Encore Cinema” before Encore took over the building at 171 Speers Road. It is presently used for storage by a "Shoppers Drug Mart" store.
