A friend of a friend had the idea to make progressive/anti-Bush cutting boards and sell them around Hyde Park. Most of them just said things like "Save the world: Defeat Bush in 2004", but he made two special ones for this guy who was running for the US Senate seat in Illinois. Someone along the line -- either the FOAF himself, or the laser engraver -- misspelled that candidate's name. One of them the FOAF painstakingly hand-amended (with a needle or something) to "Obama", and gave, I'm told, to Michelle; but this one, still saying "Obamo", found its way to me. And I treasure it, imagining that it links me to the President's home kitchen. You can buy more recent, correctly spelled revisions of these at the Medici Bakery on 57th street. |
