Deutsch: Blick auf die bergseitige Traufseite des Mehrzweckbaus (Wohn- und Wirtschaftsteil) für Mensch und Vieh auf der Oberen Bundalp (1920 m über Meer), im hinteren Kiental, Kanton Bern, Schweiz. Der langgezogene Mehrzweckbau unter einem Satteldach mit moderner Dachhaut bietet Wohngelegenheit für einen grösseren Teil der Familie beziehungsweise für Gäste (Obergeschoss), beherbergt einen Milchgaden mit Feuerstelle, um Käse herzustellen und zu lagern und genügend Stall- und Heuraum für das Vieh. Der Bau dokumentiert, wie ein Stufenhof funktioniert: Die Bauernfamilie lebt und wirtschaftet im Tal und sömmert das Vieh auf der Alp (Vorsäss), wo ein Teil der Familie sommers lebt, während im Tal die reichlich anfallenden Arbeiten erledigt werden müssen. In dieser Stufenwirtschaft erüllen die Alpstrassen eine grundlegende Funktion. Sie ermöglichen es der Familie, ihre Arbeitskräfte flexibler dort einzusetzen, wo Hilfe nötig ist.

La construction offre des possibilités de logement pour une grande partie de la famille ou pour des invités (étage supérieur), abrite une laiterie avec un foyer pour la fabrication et le stockage du fromage et suffisamment d'espace d'étable et de foin pour le bétail. La construction illustre le fonctionnement d'une ferme à étages : La famille paysanne vit et exploite dans la vallée et fait estiver le bétail à l'alpage (pré-salé), où une partie de la famille vit l'été tandis que les nombreux travaux doivent être effectués dans la vallée. Dans cette économie échelonnée, les routes d'alpage remplissent une fonction fondamentale. Elles permettent à la famille d'utiliser sa main-d'œuvre de manière plus flexible là où elle a besoin d'aide.

The building offers living accommodation for a larger part of the family or for guests (upper floor), houses a dairy barn with a fireplace for making and storing cheese and sufficient stable and hay room for the cattle. The building documents how a stepped farm functions: The farmer's family lives and farms in the valley and grazes the cattle on the alp (Vorsäss), where part of the family lives in the summer while the abundant work has to be done in the valley. In this farming syste, the alpine roads fulfil a fundamental function. They enable the family to use their labour more flexibly where help is needed. |
