Description |
English: A photocopy of a portrait called Oda Nobunaga, preserved by Sanpoji Temple in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture. The exact author is unknown. The original is a memorial image drawn shortly after the death of Oda Nobunaga (1534-82). It was used for generational worship of the Oda clan. According to Shusaku Endo's collection of dialogues, "Nobunaga, but Nobunaga" (Bungeishunjusha 1992): "After Nobunaga's death, a detailed picture drawn by a missionary was copied after the Meiji era and shared by the Imperial Household Agency, the Oda clan, and the Sanpoji. It is said that this picture is most similar to Nobunaga in the Oda clan. Tendo is a clan directly affiliated with Nobunaga's second son, Nobunaga, and this painting is carefully preserved in the Sanpoji temple, which is dedicated to the mortuary tablets of generations. "
