Deutsch: Saigerhütte Grünthal: Blick auf die Welle Welle mit den Nockenkränzen der drei wasserradgetriebenen Schwanzhämmer. Der 1537 erbaute Althammer ist das älteste der vier Hammerwerke der Saigerhütte. Er war bis 1914 in Betrieb und kann seit 1961 als Museum besichtigt werden. Die Welle besteht aus Eichenholz, ist 11 Meter lang, verfügt über einen Durchmesser von 1 Meter und wiegt samt Nockenringen ca. 8.000 Kilogramm. Die Nockenringe verfügen über jeweils 10 Nocken. Damit werden zwei Tiefhämmer (Gewicht jeweils 150 Kilogramm) und ein Breithammer (Gewicht 300 Kilogramm) angetrieben. |
