Summary edit

Description

Peering up at several old-growth hemlocks, Moshannon State Forest, Centre County.

Along Six-Mile Run, a stream west of Black Moshannon State Park, is a small tract (perhaps 10 acres) of virgin timber that survived the logging that overtook the region more than a century ago. The trees were likely spared because of a property-boundary dispute between logging companies.

A dozen or so trees (mostly hemlocks) make up the tract. The Allegheny Front Trail provides access.
