Description Lot-11550-7: WWI: French Activities. Roye. Old German concrete strong post, usually housing machine gun nests. These were first constructed and used by the enemy in the summer of 1916. This one is three miles northwest of Roye on Amiens-Roye road. Trenches on extreme right were lines before the battle of Roye. Morris’ War Photographs. Courtesy of the Library of Congress.
