Summary edit

Description
English: Old Grane Road leading down towards Souter Hill Farm. Until the existing Grane Road was built in 1810 by the Elton and Blackburn Turnpike Trust the only road from Blackburn to Haslingden was a packhorse trail which passing the Grey Mare went over the shoulder of Rushy Hill and turned south east crossing Grane Road to meander past hamlets and farms of the extended Grane village until it crossed Grane Road again near Crowtrees. This picture shows the old road, now a footpath, dropping down from the direction of Rushy Hill to cross Grane Road. The lone tree marks the site of Souter Hill Farm 498979
