| Description | This was once the site of the old Tuckasegee School, which was constructed in 1940 of red brick, and used until 1958. The four-room, H-shaped structure had a large, central, multipurpose room, flanked by two classrooms at either end. Today, the central multipurpose room has been removed, and the two classrooms in either wing have been renovated into apartment units, with a larger, two-story apartment building being constructed to the rear of the building on the same property in the late 20th Century. The buildings have since been abandoned due to road widening on NC 107 destroying the septic system for the building, and the future of the site remains uncertain. |
