English: Old YHANI Youth Hostel at Stradreagh on Murder Hole Road, near Limavady, Co Derry (Londonderry) This popular hostel of the Youth Hostel Association of Northern Ireland was opened in 1934 or 1935 on Murder Hole Road, the old coach road from Coleraine to Limavady. It survived more than 50 years, and closed in late 1988 or early 1989. Almost twenty years on the old farmhouse is boarded up, but looking remarkably intact. The huge old painted YHA crest (YHANI very often styled itself plain 'YHA' on its signage) can still be made out on the glistening outhouse roof. A drear Sunday, 10 May 2006. Grid Reference taken from NI one-inch map, 1976. Please contact if you can add any more to YHANI's history. |
