DescriptionOld elevator - geograph.org.uk - 593797.jpg |
English: Old elevator. Tool for lifting the old fashioned small hay and straw bales. Often they would be simply lifted with a pikle, quite a feat of strength and balance and a skill I never quite mastered. This machine, a moving belt of wood slats that can have the angle adjusted was quite a labour saver - a bale was dropped on the end and with luck (they did drop off) would be delivered to the growing hay rick. |
