English: Seal of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province of Thailand in accordance to the announcement for official seals of Thai province, print in the Royal Thai Government Gazette in 2004.
ไทย: เครื่องหมายราชการของจังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา (ตราประจำจังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา) ตามประกาศสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี เรื่อง กำหนดภาพเครื่องหมายราชการ ตามพระราชบัญญัติเครื่องหมายราชการ พุทธศักราช 2482 (ฉบับที่ 214) [ว่าด้วยการกำหนดเครื่องหมายราชการประจำจังหวัด 75 จังหวัด] ซึ่งได้ประกาศใช้แทนตราประจำจังหวัดแบบเดิมอย่างเป็นทางการนับแต่ พ.ศ. 2547 เป็นต้นมา (ยึดถือตามวันที่ประกาศในราชกิจจานุเบกษา)

คำอธิบายตราประจำจังหวัด ของสำนักราชบัณฑิต เป็นบรรยาย ดังนี้

หอยสังข์ประดิษฐานบนแว่นฟ้า ภายในปราสาทใต้ต้นหมัน รูปสังข์ซึ่งประดิษฐานอยู่ในพานแว่นฟ้า ภายใน ปราสาทใต้ต้นหมัน เป็นสัญลักษณ์อันประเสริฐ จึงใช้เป็นดวงตาของจังหวัด

ตามประกาศดังกล่าว จึงถือว่าภาพนี้มีฐานะเป็นเครื่องหมายราชการ ตามพระราชบัญญัติเครื่องหมายราชการ พุทธศักราช 2482 (พ.ศ. ๒๔๘๒)

รูป: พระแท่นเชิงฐานบุษบกวางพานประดิษฐานหอยสังข์ทักษิณาวัตร ภายในซุ้มเรือนยอด คือปราสาท ๓ ยอด ภายใต้พุ่มใบต้นหมัน

ปรากฏความตามที่บรรยายในราชกิจจานุเบกษาดังนี้

ความหมาย: เมื่อราวศุภมัสดุ ๗๒๑ ปีขาล โทศก เดือนห้า ขึ้นหกค่ำ เพลา ๓ นาฬิกา ๙ บาท หรือตรงกับวันที่ ๓ เมษายน พุทธศักราช ๑๘๙๓ พระเจ้าอู่ทองทรงสถาปนาอาณาจักรกรุงศรีอยุธยาขึ้นที่ตำบล หนองโสน ชีพ่อพราหมณ์ได้ฤกษ์ตั้งพิธีกลบบัตรสุมเพลิง (ชื่อพิธีอย่างหนึ่งทำเพื่อแก้เสนียด) ได้สังข์ทักษิณาวัตรขอนหนึ่ง ใต้ต้นหมัน เพราะเหตุดังกล่าว ตราประจำจังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา จึงเป็นรูปสังข์ทักษิณาวัตร ประดิษฐานอยู่บนพานทอง ภายในปราสาท ๑ หลัง ใต้ต้นหมัน
