Français : importé de Sicile et remanié vers 1160-1180.
Ivoire, cuivre coulé repoussé, ajouré, ciselé et doré. Provenance: trésor de l'église Saint-Servais de Maastricht. Aux 11ième et 12ième siècle, les ateliers siciliens de sculpture sur ivoire s'étaient spécialisés sur de cors de chasse taillés dans les défenses d'éléphants. Arrivé en région mosane, cet olifant fut transformé en un reliquaire, agrémenté d'un décor orfévré représentant des bustes des apotres, des prophètes et des vertus.
